Taking water from underground aquifers and distributing
it to your home is an elaborate process that takes quality facilities
and committed employees. This process all starts at the water treatment
plant and surrounding property.
The Oskaloosa Water Department plant is
located three miles north of Oskaloosa on Highway 63, next to the South
Skunk River. As seen in the photo, a large reservoir is located next to
the highway, its bluish-green color easily catching the eye of those driving by.
The brick buildings,
built years ago give the
plant a rustic look. The
Spring and Summer months find the plant grounds green and well
manicured. The Oskaloosa Water Plant is a Mahaska
County landmark and the department staff takes
great pride and care in maintaining its
uniqueness.
The treatment plant is in operation from 7:00 AM to midnight,
365 days a year.
